Whats the Best Type of Styling Product For Long/Longish Hair?

I have hair that comes just over my ears and its incredibly black as well as incredibly thick, almost like a paint brush its so thick.

I'm just curious as to what you all think is the best product for styling it, I want to go for messed up and all over the place when not at work and just a casual style when at work.

So whats best for the two styles, like gel, paste or wax or whatever

My hair is to the middle of my back now but when it was about your length I really liked Fructisse Fiber Gum for a nice piecey or textured look it is malleable but not as heavy as a wax pomade and certainly not as oily which can happen if you use to much wax pomade. I myself have really thick and coarse hair. I use Garnier Frutise Leave in Conditioning Cream for frizzy, dry or unmanagable hair most of the time for when I'm at school and want to look somewhat nice and put together. Other times I wear VO5 Obey%26amp;Play gel wax to smooth my hair out and give the ends a sort of messy casual look.
