Chlorine in hair?

My girls stayed with grandparents for a couple of days and spent the whole time in the pool. They came home with that dirty chloriney hair. I washed and conditioned it and the next morning it still felt dirty. I could barely get a brush through it! Any ideas on how to get it back to normal?

Great product bye Pantene I think it removes 3 months of damage try it out it works wonders!

But if you want a quick fix try rinsing your hair with diluted vinegar (half water, half vinegar) lemon juice works well!

At health food stores or at good salon product stores, they sell different stripper shampoos which will remove all of that. Just go there and ask someone.

Good luck.

L'Or鑼卆l Kids Swim Shampoo

Hangin' in the pool is cool, but not when chlorine turns your hair green! New Swim Shampoo dives into chlorine, salt and mineral damage with 2-in-1 extra gentle conditioning powers. Sunny Orange clears chlorine smell away with a splash of fresh sweet scent-sation.

I used to do swim team, and I;d be in the pool 4x a week. This stuff did the trick.

You can buy it at Wal-Mart, CVS, etc

Go to the hair salon. Their hair should be deep conditioned. Or u can use Revlon professional shampoos they r not too expensive but r the best!

Aveda has a detoxifying shampoo that removes chlorine. Shampoo like normal leave it on, and cover with a cap for 15 minutes. Rinse, then use your daily shampoo and conditioner after. You may have to do it a couple times, but this stuff works!! Try it on your hair too. Once a week to remove product buildup. It's like having a new head of hair.

Make a baking soda and water paste . Apply to hair after getting it wet. Let it set for about 10 to 30 minutes with a towel, cap or whatever works for you. Rinse wash and condition . It is also a way to get built up stuff off hair . I do this once every few months and my hair is like new again. Good luck to you and your girls. Plus its CHEAP.

Shampoo for damaged hair and masks.

In the case of chlorine its best to use something with a strong oil base so the hair can absorb the moisture. The hair is clean it is just dried by the bleach (chlorine) and is in need of a major revitalization....try Garner furctiz leave in conditioner

the hair will go back to normal by its self give it a bit of time

The green hair that develops from exposure to chlorine is related to the copper found in the water.

Purchase a shampoo and/or conditioner specially formulated to remedy "green hair" or "swimmer's hair." Redken has a great one Cleansing creme very gentle.

Try using lemon juice or vinegar to rinse the hair after swimming, if you cannot find a commercial product.

Their hair will be very dry you will have to replace the moisture with a very good conditioner and or reconsturter.

Before they swim "fill" their hair with clean water (get their hair extremely wet) and that will help keep the chlorine out.

According to my most recent issue of Good Housekeeping, you need a deep conditioner with the following:

1. stearyl or cetearyl, which help rehydrate damaged hair

2. proviatmins or panthenol, which are moisturizers

3. dimethicone or cyclopentasiloxane, which smooth hair

Their suggestion is Garnier Fructis Sleek and Deep Shine Conditioner for $4 and to use it one a week or as needed.

Hope that helps - Dave's wife

The best thing I have ever seen is available at Sally Beauty Supply. They sell a crystal clarifying treatment ( I think it costs about 2.50) They also sell a shampoo and conditioner if you think they will be swimming again.

I have seen this product take the joker green out of hair (blondes tend to turn green after swimming)

It is really easy to use, with them being kids I would definitely follow it up with a good conditioner. . . they usually have a packet on sale for like 99 cents (one pack is enough for both of them)
