Hairdryer 2000 watts....will this damage my hair??

I asked my mom for a professional hair dryer because I love doing my hair and the hairdryers from Walmart that are 1875 watts really dry it out....however, when my mom went to purchase a really nice hairdryer, someone told her to get a hairdryer for 2000 watts and that it wouldn't dry my hair out because it takes less time to dry......does this sound right?? I like to dry my hair by using a large round brush.....thank you!

With any form of heat heat styling tool, there will be some damage. Dryness being the major part of this damage. However, if you use a heat protectant, such as CHI which is sold professionally and now at some K-Marts or Suave heat protectant, it will keep your hair from drying out. As long as you use the right kinds of protectants and conditioners, it won't damage your hair at all.

Blow drying your hair period is going to damage it to some degree. Just make sure you get your hair cut every 3-4 weeks and you'll be fine.

watts is the amount of electrical power it uses...they are directly proportional to the amount of heat generated... why not just put a diffuser on the hair dryer?
