How can I prevent thinning hair?

I am a 21 year old black male, my hair was always thick and wavy and now I can still see my scalp when I grow it out for a couple of weeks. what bothers me is that it's comeable with a thin comb yet I can see scalp, the waves are there, but expecially in the back upper part of my head I can see my scalp. Do I just need to keep growing it out? Or am I really thinning and what do I do to prevent this? I have used texturizers in the past, and I brush it frequently, I use doogro and other moisturizers. furthermore, when I get a shape-up, I can feel the barber shaping my hairline on further up places of my hairline. I know I shouldnt dwell on my appearance. and I stress out alot. But does anyone know how to help this situation? I believe in order to feel good, you have to look good. I've always looked good, I dont want to NOT

My husband uses a generic Rogaine (Equate Walmart brand) with good results. This is not a cure but rather slows down the hair loss. Also, are you on any meds that cause hair loss? Are you getting proper nutrition? I would stop the texturizers, as chemicals can cause hair loss. About 60+ years ago, (before Rogaine) my father tried absolutely everything possible to save his hair. He wasn't able to save his hair and ended up losing a lot of $$ instead, so don't get too wrapped up in the schemes that are out there.

From a female point of view, it is not such a big deal. I have seen several men who are drop dead gorgeous and bald. However, you are 21 and it does bother you, so give the Rogaine a try. Lay off chemicals. Condition your hair. Be gentle with your hair and good luck!

pads cause the ones at the hospitals usually are like dieapers buy the brand you like in overnites for the first few days. a good support bra cuz your chest will swell and some ice packs to help with the swelling if your not breast feeding.

A book or avrossword book would come in handy for after the birth. A cell phone maybe. Pad and paper to take notes on things f you want, or just to doodle.

I always packed tennis balls. The are great if you have back labor. Your coach can use them to massage (quite firmly) your back. It really helps. A baby book. I took the time to record the gifts I received in the Hospital. Does the baby outfit have a hat? Another Wisconsin Mom. Best of luck. Don't forget to set the carseat out so Dad can grab it to pick you both up. I didn't wear my own nightgown right away. I saved it until I had visitors.

I'd bring a couple of blankets - we used more than one b/c they got soiled. Maybe a magazine or book for you, perhaps an address book with phone numbers and a phone card, if needed. Slippers %26amp; robe are a must for you. Don't forget they will come %26amp; take your baby's pic in the hospital - you want a special outfit for that, also a special outfit to come home in for the baby. Oh and don't forget diapers %26amp; pads, tho most hospitals supply some.

I brought my own pillow..it was a good idea and dont forget to bring your own sanitary pads...they may not provide you with any and if they do you wont like them

Snacks for after pregnancy, any drinks that you can see through for labor, you might get a bit thirsty.

And definately overnight pads with wings, some hospitals have pads without wings. They are so cheap!

Slippers with traction, hospitals floors are cold. Or even flip flops.Your favorite pillow, hospitals pillows have very little stuffing, just be careful just to lean on that pillow, you don't want to stain it. You will need a favorite hard candy to suck on because your mouth will get dry. Also try taking something to focus on when your having contractions. IE a baby picture, a picture of someone crossing the finish line, whatever will represent the end of a successful birth. Also your panties should be briefs because they will be more comfortable to wear. To make the labor less boring take some cards or crosswords or even a travel game of some kind. Something that makes you laugh will help with the discomfort. Good Luck!

i believe that everyone else told you about everything but i took a find a word puzzle book with me..it helped me take the mind off the contractions (i was in labor for 22 hours) and also gave me something to do the days that i stayed in there

i know EXACTLY how you feel!! and you want it that way without the damaging straighteneing?! well, there are many ways to achieve this....its not necessarily the price of the shampoo and conditioner you use, although the expensive stuff is great, sauve professionals is JUST AS GOOD!!!!!!!!!! try it! also alberto VO5 is soo cheap! under a dollar! it smells delicioous and when i use it i get soo many compliments!!!!!!!!

after washing and conditioning your hair, rinse with cool/cold water. once out of the shower just squeeze all water and dont put a towel near your hair!!!! it causes frizz and makes your hair shaft frizzy and not smooth! AIR DRY!! and then finger comb. once dry you can brush and use a little bit of serum at ends of hair

ps. remember not always will you get the same results. just switch shampoos often because this will help get rid of build up and washing hair frequently (if oily) is okay! and helps hair grow faster!

Ok NEVER use Pantine pro - it has this wax in it that will make your hailr horriable. Ok but you should try Paul Mitchle, "gloss drops" it works AMAZING you use one or two drops and work it into your hair. there's these great products for distangeling hair. my friend uses it, she's got frizzy-curly hair. there are sprays, conditioners, and gels. and this one kind of brush, i think it's got boarhair bristles, makes it really soft. maybe ask a hairdresser, or someone at a beauty supply store. good luck!

Cats shed fur year-round, but especially in the spring. I can't use a regular brush on one of my cats - she runs when she sees me coming with the brush in hand! For her I use a pair of "grooming gloves" I found at the local pet store. They are canvas gloves (like garden gloves) with rubber or plastic pieces on the palms. I just pet her wearing the gloves and I get a lot of fur out that way. The gloves aren't as good or as thorough as a brush, but it sure helps. Plus, she loves the extra petting!

If the shedding is a real problem, you may need to take them to a groomer, or ask the vet to brush him on visits. My cats don't like to be brushed either. I thought about seeing if I can get one of those hoods like they use in the vet's office to brush mine. Good luck!
